Lesson 2
In the last lesson you mastered the very first steps of salsa. You learned the basic step (paso básico) and the guapea and also added the first beginners’ moves to your repertoire. Well done!
Let's continue...
Easy moves for beginners
Sombrero
This move is part of countless combinations but can also be performed on its own.
Tip: When raising your arms, take care not to be too far apart; otherwise the follower will have to bend backwards or the leader will have to bend forwards quite a bit.
Candado
Candados exist in many variations: doble, complicado, .... Here is the simple version for beginners. Do you notice how it starts basically with an enchufla but with both hands connected? And how it ends with a dile que no? You just need to learn the new parts in between!
Tip: Especially for followers, avoid taking large steps. This slows you down and makes it hard for the leader to keep you close and lead you properly.
Setenta
Another basic move that can be part of many other combinations or danced in many varieties is the setenta. It may look a bit tough but there are many parts you already know, like the enchufla and the dile que no!
Enjoy and see you for the next lesson!
